News reports have revealed that the British
nursing authorities have blacklisted a
Nigerian mental health nurse following her
conviction and sentencing for smuggling a
younger Nigerian woman into Britain as a
s*x slave under the threat of a black magic
curse.
The suspect identified as Florence Obadiaru ,
50, as well as two other human traffickers
from an international prostitution ring had
reportedly forced the 23-year-old victim to
fly into Heathrow using a fake passport in
September 2011.
The victim who’s identity has been
withheld, had been raped and subjected to a
‘ju-ju’ death ritual before leaving Nigeria,
with gang members threatening to kill her
unless she paid £40,000 to them.
The victim had been promised a job in the
UK which would enable her to repay the
debt, but upon her arrival, had been kept at
Obadiaru’s house, sexually assaulted and
told she was to work as a s*x slave in Italy.
The plan had reportedly fallen through after
Italian authorities spotted the victim’s
forged ID, and immediately deporting her
back to the UK.
Obadiaru, from Brockley, south-east
London, prior to her sentencing, had
worked as a carer for 10 years, only
recently finishing her degree in nursing at
Bedford University in Luton.
Obadiaru was reportedly sentenced to 2
years in Jail in July 2014 after being
convicted of human trafficking charges
involving the victim who had been brought
into the UK for sexual exploitation and
arranging for her transfer to Italy.
Obadiaru has reportedly been struck-off the
nursing list following a Nursing and
Midwifery Council disciplinary hearing.
The other gang members identified as Olusoji
Oluwafemi and Johnson Olayinka were
sentenced to 6 years and 6 months and 4
years and 6 months in jail respectively.
